The predecessor of Gaomei Wetlands was Gaomei Beach, but after the construction of Taichung Harbor's embankment, the nearby Dajia River gradually deposited a large amount of sediment, forming the present-day Gaomei Wetlands. If you visit Gaomei Wetlands, be sure to visit the Double Curved Landscape Bridge, Gaomei Wetlands Boardwalk, Wetland Windmill, and Gaomei Wetlands Visitor Center.

If you choose to drive, you can take National Highway 3→ Zhonggang Interchange→ National Highway 4→ Qingshui Interchange→ Provincial Highway 17→ and you will arrive at Gaomei Road.

Parking Information

There is a paid parking lot near the Visitor Center, with a fee of 50 NTD per car.

For visitors from other cities or counties, you can first take the high-speed rail→ Get off at Taichung Station→ Then transfer to the TRA train on the coastal line (TRA Train Timetable System) →  Get off at Qingshui Station→ Then take a bus to Gaomei Wetlands.

  • Take bus route 179 and get off at Gaomei Wetland. Walk about 100 meters to the entrance of the wooden boardwalk at Gaomei Wetland.

  • Take bus route 688 (operates only on weekends and holidays) and get off at Gaomei Wetland Visitor Center. Walk about 1 kilometer to the entrance of the wooden boardwalk at Gaomei Wetland.

You can choose to take the train on the coastal line (Taiwan Railway Administration train schedule system) and get off at Qingshui Station. Then transfer to a bus to reach Gaomei Wetland.
